  If you find yourself here just after midnight refueling your jilopy under a full moon and blustery sky, you may be present (as I was) to a steadily increasing sense of creepiness or possibly even dread that just sorta sneaks up on you and encourages your thoughts to turn darker than the wind swept dust encircling you as you wait quietly for the pump to stop. And when it does stop, I find the only remedy for the doom and gloom outside, is to step inside and introduce yourself to the cashier. You won't find a warmer reception or a mire reassuring voice for miles and miles, possibly days. In either case that clerk's hopeful outlook and authentic smile could allay the darkest of fears that might have taken hold while you were outside, and will tie you over for the trip home.
